Tasks

-Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of personnel. -Ensure that supplies, equipment, etc., are maintained to provide a safe and comfortable environment. -Ensure that housekeeping personnel follow established safety regulations at all times including the use of equipment and supplies. -Develop, maintain, and implement infection control, disposal policies, and universal precautions policies and procedures to assure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times and that aseptic and isolation techniques are followed by all personnel. -Performs housekeeper/laundry functions. -Final check on move-outs and prepare apartment for next occupant. -Maintain current written records of department expenditures and ensure that adequate financial records and costs reports are submitted to the Executive Director upon request or as necessary. -Assist in staff development. Formally and informally monitor performance personnel and ensure adjustments/corrections are made by using coaching, counseling, and discipline methods. Work with the Executive Director to resolve staff performance issues including those that may lead to termination. -Place orders for equipment and supplies. -Communicate with other department managers to plan for housekeeping services. -Manage inventory and stay within the projected budget at all times. -Perform administrative duties such as completing budget tracking or spend down sheets, reports and evaluations. -Participate in the development, maintenance and updating of policies and procedures, job descriptions, in-services and housekeeping forms for the community. -Determine the hours for staffing necessary to meet resident and community needs. -Provide written and oral reports. -Assume the responsibility for obtaining/maintaining material safety data sheets (MSDS) for hazardous chemicals in the department. Ensure that containers of hazardous chemicals in the department are properly labeled and stored. Ensure that all personnel are trained to use labels and MSDS to recognize hazards and to follow appropriate protective measures. -Plan, organize, implement, evaluate and direct housekeeping services as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with all current rules and regulations. -Recommend to the Executive Director and/or Human Resources Director the number and level of personnel to be employed. -Assist in keeping employee training records up to date. -Coordinate repairs needed within the physical plant. -Assist in preparing and planning the Housekeeping Department's budget and submit to the Executive Director for review, recommendations, and approval. -Do periodic checks on apartments to ensure proper procedures are followed. -Recommend to the Executive Director the equipment and supply needs of the department. -Ensure that adequate supplies and equipment are on hand at all times. -Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, scheduling, etc., of in‑service training classes, on‑the‑job training and orientation programs for maintenance personnel. -Set up and maintain model apartments. -Schedule department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, cleaning schedules, etc., to expedite work.
