This is your chance to explore the industry before committing to a full apprenticeship – and at the end of the program, a select number of dedicated individuals will be invited to apply for an ongoing apprenticeship with Transgrid. This 5-week program is designed to give you a real taste of life as a Transmission Line Worker or Substation Electrician. You’ll train alongside highly skilled technicians, gain hands-on experience with live work crews, and take part in nationally recognised training that provides credits towards future electrical supply industry (ESI) qualifications. Expressions of Interest – Transgrid’s 2026 Pre-Apprentice Program for Women -Transport to your local depot for in-person training and activities. -Interactive, practical learning experiences – from hand skills and wiring tasks, to substation and power station tours. -Supportive mentors and trainers to guide you every step of the way. -All training, travel, PPE and accommodation expenses covered by Transgrid.
