Designer II - Water Resources

Mcadams

The Role

Overview

Design and produce water/wastewater engineering plans and related documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • design docs
  • gis coordination
  • qa/qc
  • engineering reports
  • site visits
  • pipeline design

Tasks

-Engage in continuing education on municipal utility design practices and tools -Contribute to workload planning and task delegation with project leads -Develop preliminary and final design documents including technical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates -Generate utility conflict analyses and coordinate with GIS and survey datasets -Lead QA/QC efforts on design documents prepared by Designer I staff -Prepare engineering reports, basis of design narratives, and technical memoranda -Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion. -Coordinate with engineering staff and subconsultants to deliver cohesive design packages -Participate in site visits for data collection, constructability reviews, and as-built verification -Participate in the preparation of permitting drawings, exhibits, and regulatory submittals -Effectively communicate and collaborate with the project team to ensure successful delivery of projects. -Lead and assist with the design of water and sewer pipelines, pump stations, valve vaults, storage tanks, and appurtenances; progressively own plan/profile sheets and detail development. -Develop and maintain standard details, P&IDs, valve schedules, and appurtenance layouts aligned with company CAD standards. -Participate in projects related to the planning, assessment, and design for both new and existing water / wastewater infrastructure. The role will primarily focus on water and wastewater conveyance (gravity sewers, force mains, pump stations, and water distribution), exposure to treatment plant design is a plus but not required. -Mentor junior designers and provide guidance on modeling and CAD standards
