Tasks

-Receives general direction on key objectives. -Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments. -Designs and conducts experiments and analysis and interprets data. -Coordinates tasks with engineers, designers and administrative staff. -Cooperates with other team members; interacts with individuals at all organizational levels in professional manner. -Independently evaluates, selects and adapts standard techniques, procedures and criteria. -Prepares written scopes of work documents and coordinates efforts of topographic/ hydrographic survey and geotechnical subconsultants. -Prepares and manages scope, budget and schedule for projects or assignments; this includes any discipline internal or external resources assigned to support their projects are within scope, budget and schedule. -Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs. -Receives guidance when necessary on unconventional or complex problems, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. -Interfaces with permitting agencies, rail operators, utility companies and/or municipalities providing utility services, etc. -Interacts with PM, client, customers, officials, contractors and others. -Prepares complete project documents. -Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work. -Designs a complete project, system, component, or process. -Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments -Checks entire job for constructability, interferences, operational safety, constructability and overall quality assurance. -Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”

What You Bring

-Occasional overtime and travel will be required. -Formulates and solves problems. -Acquires general knowledge of principles, and practices of related fields, and ability to function on multidisciplinary teams. -Professional Engineer or EIT required. -Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects. -Experience in bulk material handling and liquid terminal facilities is a plus. -6+ years related engineering experience. -Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). -Experienced in rail layout/design and rail operator industrial track standards/requirements and approval processes/procedures. -Demonstratives a proactive approach and consistently positive demeanor. -Exhibits excellent listening, oral and written skills; ability to prepare and make project-related presentations to clients is desirable. -Experienced in industrial and/or commercial site development, roads/streets/highways, storm drainage collection and retention/detention systems, potable water distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection and pumping systems, site grading, earthwork, etc. -Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area. -Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines. -Communicates a strong sense of urgency about solving problems and getting work done. -BS in Civil Engineering required; MS degree preferred. -Proficient in common civil engineering and Microsoft software packages (HEC, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, EXCEL, WORD, e.g.)
