The Role

Overview

Design, develop, and implement electrical control systems, supporting customers and vendors.

Tasks

-Work overtime during peak periods or project deadlines. -Provide on-site and remote customer support as required. -Design control panels using AutoCAD software. -Coordinate with vendors to manage interfaces and equipment needs. -Perform tasks assigned by the General Manager or Electrical Engineering Manager. -Support the construction of control panels to ensure compliance with design specifications. -Conduct training sessions for clients on control systems and equipment. -Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs for equipment operation control. -Program control sequencing and speed modulation for three-phase motors. -Identify and procure parts for system installations and repairs.

Summit Skilled Solutions is urgently hiring an Electrical Controls Engineer/Technician to join our dynamic team at our Lynchburg facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in electrical systems and proficiency in various engineering software tools. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for a range of applications, ensuring projects meet technical specifications and deadlines. -Expertise in PLC and HMI programming, particularly with Rockwell Automation products (Siemens experience also valued). -Strong communication and interpersonal skills. -Knowledge of electrical standards such as UL508 and NFPA79. -Self-initiative and desire for continuous learning. -Understanding of electrical and mechanical schematic drawings. -Programming experience in computer languages is a plus. -Travel 25-40% of the time for installation, troubleshooting, or training purposes. -Familiarity with PLC ladder logic and HMI programming. -Degree in Electrical Engineering (BS or AAS) with emphasis on Industrial Control Systems. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. -Post-high school electrical schooling with focus on low voltage DC and AC circuits.
