Tasks

-Collect and compile relevant sewer data, such as hydraulic information, structural condition data, etc., to provide technical expertise related to sewers. -Conduct various wastewater-related technical studies. -Prepare technical memorandums and provide technical expertise related to large diameter sewer planning and to identify sewers in need of rehabilitation or O&M. -Plan, review, and work on wastewater collection system master plans and other planning documents. -May coordinate production environment configuration, plan cutover schedule, pre-launch testing, and go-live communication. -Evaluates the performance efficiency of asset risk assessments and develops mitigation plans. -Conduct pilot projects for evaluating or identifying new technologies and methodologies to prepare technical reports for prioritizing large diameter sewers and/or repairs to eliminate sewer spills and reduce collapses. -May coordinate the activities of technical and non-technical persons involved in construction, maintenance, and operation. -Makes engineering investigations in connection with the maintenance and improvement of asset management technical functional requirements, data migration, and GIS schema review. -Evaluates and facilitates testing, fixing issues and retesting, knowledge transfer, user training, and go-live readiness. -May supervise, coordinate and direct the activities of a small group of professional and nonprofessional employees engaged in the design, construction and start-up of water, wastewater, and solid waste treatment facilities and in the investigation and gathering of data of conditions affecting public health, the environment, the purity and quality of the City water supply, and liquid and solid waste collection, treatment and disposal; -Perform structural and/or hydraulic analysis of large diameter sewers to identify and reduce the risk of sewer collapse and/or sanitary sewer overflow. -Makes engineering investigations and analysis of asset performance data, trends, and areas for improvement, utilizing machine learning algorithms to inform better decision making

What You Bring

-Ability to effectively communicate Wastewater Program goals, objectives, and strategies with other City Bureaus and Departments and with other public and governmental agencies. -Strong report writing skills, verbal skills to develop rapport with diverse stakeholders, and organizational abilities. -Knowledge of GIS software and the MIKE URBAN Model is preferred. -Ability to work independently or in a team to complete assignments. -Ability to oversee and monitor the work done by consultants. -Knowledge of the wastewater collection system analysis in the determination of deficiencies and necessary improvements. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Familiarity with or experience in working with consultant contracts, including the development of Request for Proposals (RFPs). -Ability to deal tactfully with City personnel, the public, and regulatory agencies. -Knowledge in Microsoft Project, Windows, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and related computer software. -Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks. -Ability to conduct and prepare for meetings, presentations, and workshops with other agencies, environmental interest groups, stakeholders, and the Board of Public Works. -Knowledge of CCTV assessment. -Knowledge of the Bureau's financial management structure and regulatory requirements governing Wastewater Program planning. -Knowledge of project management principles and ability to develop project schedule, budget, cash flow, and coordinate activities between several Bureaus and/or outside agencies and departments.
