The Role

Overview

Inspect USACE facilities for accessibility barriers and produce compliance reports.

Tasks

-Prepare written reports outlining deficiencies, non-compliant elements, and recommended corrective actions. -Use specialized tools (e.g., digital levels, slope meters, measuring devices) to verify compliance with accessibility requirements. -Evaluate site and building elements such as parking, entrances, doorways, restrooms, signage, and paths of travel for compliance with ABA, UFAS, ADA, and other applicable federal and DoD standards. -Conduct field inspections and assessments of USACE facilities to identify architectural barriers to accessibility. -Participate in project meetings and provide expert guidance on accessibility improvements. -Document findings with accurate field notes, photographs, measurements, and detailed reports. -Communicate effectively with design teams, facility managers, and USACE representatives to clarify findings and support mitigation planning. -Maintain a strong working knowledge of current accessibility codes, USACE policies, and federal building requirements.

What You Bring

-Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and technical specifications -CASp, ICC Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner certification, or similar accessibility credential -Experience with Federal Projects, particularly US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), preferred -Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and digital inspection/reporting tools -Experience in facility inspection, accessibility assessment, or building code compliance -Ability to work independently in the field and in varied weather conditions -Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred) -Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and reporting skills -Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software
