Tasks
Collaborate with business development and project teams to align bids with customer expectations. Build and maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships. Recommend improvements in estimating systems, tools, and processes. Analyze and incorporate vendor and subcontractor quotes. Provide detailed cost breakdowns and clarifications to field and operations staff. Track historical project costs to refine future estimates and improve accuracy. The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects. This includes analyzing specifications, drawings, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates and bids. The Estimator will collaborate with Preconstruction, Project Management, and Operations teams to support successful project execution from pursuit through handoff. Stay updated on industry trends, material pricing, and labor market conditions. Identify value engineering opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality. Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure smooth transition from estimating to execution. Develop conceptual estimates during early design phases and update throughout design progression. Review and interpret plans, specifications, and other project documents. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed. Support the creation of competitive bids and proposals for clients. Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

What You Bring
Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred). Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple bids/projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. 3–5+ years of estimating experience in HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical contracting. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Accubid, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and estimating practices.
