Overview
Design and assess fire alarm systems, conduct site audits, and prepare technical reports.

Tasks
-Conduct site audits of fire protection systems performance, asbuilt conditions, and Code conformance; -Assess fire and life safety performance of new and existing building fire protection systems using applicable Codes and Standards; -Prepare reports and other technical communication; -Participate in design reviews, shop drawings reviews, construction site visits and verifications for various fire protection systems; -Assist in the preparation of project proposals and liaise with clients. -Prepare technical reports; -Participate on project teams including other fire protection personnel, contractors and other technical disciplines for successful project delivery; -Complete design calculations as per local code and standards including but not limited to the building and fire codes, ULC, NFPA, etc.; -Draft fire alarm systems and details using AutoCAD or, alternatively, mark up design concepts using Bluebeam Revu; -Conduct site visits to gather data on existing conditions and review construction; -Review contract documents, including drawings and specifications for Code conformance; -Investigate, advise, and solve unusual design problems; -Design fire alarm systems including detection, clean agent and other related systems; -Work with project teams including other staff, other technical disciplines and contractors for successful project delivery; and

What You Bring
-Experience in fire alarm system design, or related systems design -Diploma in fire protection engineering technology; may also consider Diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering technology with the relevant set of experience. -Excellent communication and written skills in English -Strong customer service commitment -Ability to model fire alarm systems using AutoDesk REVIT -Demonstrated ability to manage projects and communicate with clients, authorities and contractors -Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and persuasively -Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, consulting experience preferred; however, design experience in a Contractor/vendor environment may be considered. -Ability to work in a team environment -Ability to develop clients and grow consulting business opportunities -Selfmotivated, problemsolving and solutionoriented, high level of accountability. -Organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks on multiple projects
