The Role

Tasks

-Assist in the preparation and maintenance of survey records, including field notes, sketches, and reports, and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards. -Collaboration with site engineers planning for necessary works and the correct interpretation of staked points. -Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and reference lines for construction, ensuring the accuracy of the layout. -Conduct topographic surveys for construction projects, including the collection of detailed land, terrain, and environmental data. -Analyze and interpret topographic survey data to create maps, cross-sections, and detailed reports to guide construction activities. -Use advanced surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS, Digital levels to stake out and collect accurate data for as-builts , grading, and drainage systems. -Perform as-built surveys to verify the completion of work in accordance with design and engineering specifications. -Provide information when necessary, on the design of construction works and site layout based on topographic survey findings, helping optimize construction methods and minimize environmental impacts. -Support the project team with accurate and timely data to ensure project milestones are met and that the project remains on schedule. -Address any issues related to topographic discrepancies and make adjustments to survey data or construction processes as needed. -Ensure that all surveying work complies with relevant safety standards, environmental regulations, and local laws.

What You Bring

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surveyor with a strong topographic background to join our team for a rail construction project in Toronto. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting topographic surveys, performing data analysis, and supporting the accurate layout and construction works. This position requires a deep understanding of topographic surveying techniques to ensure precision in all phases of construction. -Experience with data analysis, interpreting topographic information, and providing insights to improve construction workflows. -Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. -Solid understanding of topographic survey principles, data collection, mapping, and report generation. -Ability to work in challenging field conditions, including rough terrain, and adapt to changing weather conditions. -Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with site engineers, contractors, and survey managers. -Knowledge of local regulations and safety standards in construction works. -Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring that survey data is collected and processed to the highest standards. -Strong proficiency in using surveying instruments, including Total Stations, GPS equipments , digital levels. -Knowledge of construction methodologies. -Familiarity with environmental considerations and regulatory requirements specific to construction works in Ontario. -Previous experience working on infrastructure projects, including design and layout. -Minimum of 5 years of experience in topographic surveying, -Proficient in survey software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D , Leica Infinity, Excel . -Degree or diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering. -Certification as an Ontario Land Surveyor (OLS) or other relevant professional designation.
