Industrial placement in transportation engineering with hands‑on project experience
Key Responsibilities

Tasks
-Assisting in signalling and electrification interface planning -Supporting ground investigations for transportation projects -Supporting studies on capacity, layout, and logistics for ports and harbours -Designing and modelling urban streets and junctions using industry-leading software -Designing and assessing rail infrastructure, including stations and track layouts -Performing structural design and assessment for bridges and transport-related structures -Contributing to business cases and policy reviews for infrastructure development -Supporting active travel and sustainable transport solutions -Assisting in safety audits and traffic management solutions -Conducting feasibility and corridor studies for new transport routes -Contributing to feasibility studies and construction methodologies -Preparing structural calculations and design documentation -Assisting in the planning and design of port infrastructure and marine facilities -Assisting with the integration of digital technology in transport networks -Supporting tunnel design and analysis for road or rail projects -Supporting transport planning and demand forecasting studies -Assisting in foundation and retaining structure design -Designing and modelling highway alignments and junction improvements -Assisting in geotechnical assessments and structural modelling -Preparing technical drawings and reports for maritime transport projects -Preparing geometric designs, drainage systems, and pavement analysis -Supporting rail systems integration and alignment design -Conducting geotechnical analysis for tunnels, bridges, and rail systems -Supporting inspections and condition assessments of existing assets

What You Bring
-Excellent research and report writing skills including web based research. -Are eligible to work in the UK & Ireland for the duration of the placement. -Are analytical and detail-oriented; -Hold solid Microsoft Office skills ie, Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Excel -Are currently studying towards one of the following degrees: Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Highway Engineering, Railway Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Urban or Transport Planning; -RSGE (Rail, Structures, Ground Engineering) -Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work -STAP (Streets & Technology, Planning, Highways, Tunnelling, Ports) -Strong numeracy -Have strong communication and teamwork skills;
