The Role

Overview

Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components per specifications, ensuring quality and safety.

Tasks

-Weld, solder, bolt, rivet, screw, caulk, or bond components using appropriate tools and methods. -Check with the supervisor at the start of each day for the morning schedule and any delivery updates. -Collect accurate job information from sheet metal crews for daily timecard reporting. -Follow all company safety policies and always wear required personal protective equipment. -Lead Well: Take ownership of your work area and equipment. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth workflow. -Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored. -Evaluate the most efficient way to complete each job while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. -Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine fabrication and assembly methods. -Forming rolls -Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and fit. -Threefold Decision Making: Balance safety, quality, and efficiency on every job, while making decisions that benefit the customer, the team, and the company. -Others First: Support team members and collaborate to meet production goals. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment for everyone. -Lay out and mark reference points and dimensions on materials using rulers, squares, scribers, and other tools. -Set up and operate a variety of computerized or manual sheet metal fabricating equipment such as: -Relentless Problem Solving: Evaluate each job to determine the most efficient method without sacrificing safety or quality. Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and recommend process improvements. -Apply shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns, templates, or product outlines. -Cut, bend, form, and straighten materials according to precise measurements and tolerances. -Participate in training and process improvement initiatives as required. -Assess job priorities and secure the appropriate equipment and machinery before beginning tasks. -Communicate material, detail, and equipment needs in advance to ensure workflow continuity. -Assist with monthly sheet metal inventory audits. -Plan and organize fabrication work to ensure jobs are completed on time and to specification.

What You Bring

-Excellent communication and teamwork skills. -Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal machinery safely. -Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision. -Forklift or equipment operation certification. -Basic math skills and ability to perform measurements and conversions accurately. -Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions. -Elevate the Craftsman: Demonstrate a high level of skill and attention to detail in all fabrication work while continuously improving techniques and sharing knowledge with others. -Press brakes -Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of fabrication techniques. -Experience with TIG/MIG welding or soldering. -Hand brakes and other forming tools -Punch presses -Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish). -Physical Effort: Regularly required to stand, bend, kneel, lift up to 75 lbs, operate equipment, and handle tools or materials for extended periods. -Familiarity with roofing or construction sheet metal applications. -Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication, assembly, or a related trade.
