The Role

Overview

Manage and enforce safety, health, and environmental programs on construction sites.

Tasks

-Prepare, submit, file and maintain all essential safety paperwork accurately and thoroughly. -Coordinate and control the development and review of task hazard analysis (THA) and job hazard analysis (JHA) for each assigned projects. Identify safety needs and facilitate the necessary training as required. -Purposefully monitor, correct and educate the workforce on issues relating to workplace health and safety. -Document and communicate inspection results to site supervision. Identify and recommend solutions to hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions. Follow through to ensure 100% compliance and conformance. -Provide technical, training, and administrative support on site-specific safety, health and environmental issues. -Investigate accidents, near-misses, occupational injuries, and property damage claims. Compile data, take photos, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and required reports. -Attend accident review meetings as directed. -Conduct new hire safety training as needed. -Accompany OSHA and other safety and health inspectors on walk-through tours. Document their activities and ensure prompt correction of all noted discrepancies. -Provide surveillance services, as directed. -Issue various permits (i.e., confined space) as required. -Conduct and coordinate housekeeping inspections and safety audits with special emphasis on hazard recognition, unsafe behaviors and OSHA compliance. -Develop positive relationships with field supervision and management through regular face-to-face meetings and communications regarding site safety progress. -Oversee and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations as they relate to company operations. -Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture, helping Brandt create and maintain a behavior-driven safety program. -Conduct worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous conditions, proper use of equipment, proper material handling and use of PPE.

What You Bring

-Experience in properly documenting accident and incident investigations -Solid computer skills and ability to work effectively in MS Office -Ability to work extended and irregular hours -Required certifications: OSHA 510 or 511, First Aid/CPR -At least 2 years’ experience in construction safety management and/or industrial safety management -4-yr. degree in occupational safety/health or equivalent combination of technical training and construction-related safety experience -Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills -Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all applicable federal, state, local and company regulations -Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
