The Role

Overview

Prepare cost estimates and manage budgeting for residential construction projects.

Tasks

-Prepare detailed cost estimates for spec and built-to-order homes. -Document all estimates in company systems (Sage, Buildertrend, etc.). -Develop and maintain baseline budgets and prices for standard floorplans and models. -Monitor market pricing trends for labor and materials. -Generate final project budgets for handoff to project management. -Support PMs with cost updates, change orders, and budget adjustments. -Ensure all pricing includes proper markups and allowances. -Solicit, review, and compare subcontractor and supplier bids. -Recommend process improvements to improve accuracy and efficiency. -Build and maintain relationships with vendors, trades, and suppliers. -Perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications. -Maintain and update cost libraries, unit pricing, and estimating templates. -Track and report actual costs vs. estimates to refine accuracy. -Coordinate with drafting, land, and finance teams on cost impacts. -Provide preliminary pricing for sales on upgrades, options, and customizations.

What You Bring

-Has a comprehensive knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards. -Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software. -Honest, Dependable and Good interpersonal skills. -Scheduling knowledge -2+ years of experience in related field Preferred but will train a qualified applicant. -Experience in Sage Project Management -Experience in Bluebeam -Excellent plan and specification reading skills. -Well-developed organizational skills. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Has ample knowledge about means, methods, and materials used in residential and multi-family construction to determine the most cost-effective type of construction for a project. -Experience in estimating single family construction -Degree in Construction Management, Estimating or Engineering. -Good driving record, valid license - insurable through the company.
