Tasks
The primary responsibility of this position is to design and oversee the structural design and foundation drafting of all plant components and to ensure that all applicable building codes have been met. Other responsibilities include providing support to all product groups, scheduling work between structural engineers and drafters, designing portable equipment to meet local state requirements. -Provide structural calculation submittal packages for review by building commission officials and/or third parties on steel and concrete structures. -Supervise other structural and product design engineers as they perform duties listed above. -Work with end users of equipment to resolve complaints and recommend and oversee field repairs as necessary. -Work with the Human Resources Department to assist and coordinate the Co-op program for training future engineers. -Work with the transportation departments of various states to ensure portable equipment meets various portability requirements associated with the equipment route and destination. -Work with fabrication shop personnel and foremen as required to train and educate them on proper construction techniques. -Recommend and implement design changes to equipment to reduce manufacturing costs. -Inspect equipment prior to shipping to verify that critical welds and structural details have been properly constructed. -Supervise foundation drafting personnel and schedule work. -Recommend and implement design changes as necessary to improve product performance. -Provide recommendations and support to Sales Team and end users of equipment on modifying existing structures to make possible the upgrading of existing equipment. -Check detail drawings provided by foundation modelers and oversee revisions to drawings as required. -Assist Product Engineering Teams with structural design oversight of structural components for both portable and stationary/relocatable equipment as well as providing oversight of design for meeting transport requirements for portable equipment. -Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times. -Provide layout drawings and sketches of structures to the Engineering Department drafters for completion of detail drawings. -Design and oversee construction of fabrication shop fixtures and material handling devices. -Utilize software and write programs to aid engineering design. -Travel to plant installations and measure existing equipment and make layout drawings and sketches of proposed modifications to equipment. -Design steel structures and concrete foundations in accordance with applicable AISC, ACI, building codes, etc. -Oversee database management for structural engineering records and equipment weights, responsible for updating equipment weight records and distributing to other departments. -Consult with equipment and hardware suppliers to select and evaluate performance. -Conduct interviews of candidates for employment as structural or product engineer and foundation modelers. -Follow company policies and procedures at all times. -Attend seminars to stay current with technological advances and maintain Professional Engineer status.

What You Bring
BUILT TO CONNECT Travel Requirements: 5% or less of travel -Ability to effectively work as a member of a team is required. -Minimum of 10 years in an equivalent or progressive role. -Problem solving ability and time management skills are required. -Post graduate work preferred. -Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations and apply them to requirements and duties of the position is required. -Computer knowledge relating to position is required. -Honesty and integrity in all aspects of business -Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from a four-year university required. -P.E. Certification required. -Ability to communicate in oral and written form is required. -Must be able to meet regular attendance requirements. -Knowledge of equipment normally supplied on all types of asphalt plants and components required to manufacture these plants is required.
