Senior Roadway Designer for NJDOT, full-time onsite, design and plan review.

Tasks

-Coordinate with other disciplines as required. -Design and develop plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings. -Perform field observations of construction where appropriate. -Serve as a plan review specialist, confirming that designs submitted for review meet agency guidelines for complete street and safe systems guidelines. -Participate in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.

What You Bring

-P.E. is required -Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality recommendations -Proficient with design manuals (e.g., MUTCD, geometric design handbooks) -Adaptability to NJDOT standards and expectations -Familiar with Safe Systems Approach and knowledge of proven safety countermeasures. -Demonstrate proven roadway planning & design experience. -Understand Strategic Highway Safety Plans (SHSP). -Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills -B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred. This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years of experience since B.S. or 6 years since M.S. Typical incumbent has ten to fourteen years of experience.
