Tasks

This position is responsible for assisting customers by properly identifying needed items, using parts catalogs and computer system, billing merchandise orders, and making necessary entries to the inventory control system, while distributing special order parts, receiving warranty parts, and maintaining shelf stock. This job description does not include a complete listing of all the duties and functions of the position. Management reserves the right to assign other duties or projects as necessary. -Studies and stays current on new product bulletins and catalogs. -Receives payment or obtains credit authorization. -Works with parts team to make the department more profitable. -Maintains a clean and safe operating department. -Controls expenses to increase profitability. -Returns all unsold merchandise immediately to the correct stock location. -Picks up and delivers parts for customers and venders as needed. -Marks and stores parts in stockroom according to prearranged system. -Examines returned parts to determine if defective and exchange part or refund money. -All employees are expected to adhere to the safety policies of Dobbs Equipment and the clients for whom we work. -Finds out the model, serial number, and type of part needed. -Reads catalogs, John Deere Vision or computer for replacement part stock number and price. -Notifies Parts Manager of discrepancies between inventory records and shelf quantities. -Attends training classes and store meetings. -Fills customer orders from stock. -Prepares computerized invoices. -Receives and ships parts as needed in accordance with DOT guidelines. -Maintains periodical parts returns as needed. -Ensures technicians receive the correct parts in a timely manner. -Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available. -Always see that defective merchandise is tagged properly with date, hours used, serial number, model number, correct part number, and placed in warranty bins. -Assists with annual physical inventory.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. -Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. -Organization and communication skills must be highly developed. -Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. -Forklift Certification -Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. -Computer skills need to be broad based. -Parts counter experience -Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization exists. -Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. -Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. -Valid Drivers License -One-year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training -Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, statistics, and geometry.
