Tasks

-Serve as a technical expert, reviewer, and advisor on projects related to H&S. -Apply H&S theory, procedures, and approaches during planning and implementation of projects. Work with project teams to integrate safety into planning and execution of work. Serve as the technical reviewer of instruments of service such as Health and Safety Plans (HASPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and audits. -Lead and facilitate incident investigations, using empathy, humble inquiry, and applying technical H&S knowledge to identify systemic root causes and corrective actions to aid in preventing recurrence of similar incidents. -Manage and oversee conformance with client-specific H&S programs. Partner with client teams to engage with clients as part of project planning and delivery. -Work with project teams to ensure they have the health & safety tools, training, and knowledge necessary to perform their day-to-day job functions. -Collaborate with corporate H&S staff in continuous improvement of H&S systems and tools by identifying improvements through engaging with and obtaining feedback from project teams and local leaders. Lead the implementation of improvements. -Develop, facilitate, and deliver H&S training, and mentor staff to ensure they have the tools, training, and knowledge necessary to perform their day-to-day functions. -Support initial documentation of positive safety observations, incidents, injuries, and near misses in a reporting tool. Work with project teams to resolve H&S concerns. -Applies emotional intelligence to recognize, communicate, and resolve project-related concerns, fostering an open and supportive work environment. -Perform field visits to understand how H&S programs impact the work we do and improve our safety culture. Observe on-site project activities using planned audits and assessments to identify hazards, ensure they are understood by staff, and help staff operate safely in conformance with corporate and client expectations. -Screen and prequalify subcontractors and promote alignment with H&A and client safety culture. -Act as a key influencer to continuously improve H&S culture and be consistently relied upon by Project Managers, Project Principals, Staff Managers, and others as a valued partner to safely deliver client services.

-Strong communication skills including verbal and written, communicating internally and externally. -Emotional intelligence and collaborative mindset to engage with offices, project teams, and clients across our Mid-Atlantic and Southeast offices, with travel up to 50%. Travel is designed to directly impact safety culture and operational excellence, support high-visibility initiatives, provide hands-on mentorship, and deliver meaningful improvements across the region. The company supports flexible scheduling and travel planning to ensure work-life balance. -Professional certifications such as CSP, CHMM, CIH, ASP, or ability to obtain in the first year. -Familiarity with contaminated site management, characterization, and remediation field activities, and willingness to support delivery of field activities from time to time. -Experience implementing digital H&S management or reporting systems. -B.S. in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline. -Must be fit for duty for multiple sites and activities including, but not limited to, working outdoors in all environments, lifting to 50 pounds, standing, kneeling, walking, for long periods of time, passing a HAZWOPER exam and wearing a respirator. -Able to mentor local H&S coordinators, provide coaching to staff members on H&S aspects of office and project related tasks. -Completed training/certifications in HAZWOPER, DOT HAZMAT, OSHA 30-hour construction preferred, or ability to obtain within first year. -Direct experience providing H&S support for environmental projects in the above sectors. -Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and leverage relationships to seek continuous improvement opportunities, promote our safety culture, and facilitate H&S in planning and execution of projects. -At least 8 years of experience with a Health & Safety background for environmental remediation and site characterization projects, ideally supporting energy, real estate, government, and industrial manufacturing clients. -Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. -Be self-directed and able to work productively and prioritize multiple tasks, initiatives, and projects. -Strong commitment to compliance with company and client Health & Safety protocols. -Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of applicable government regulations, H&S compliance, industrial hygiene, and company policies. Exhibits a thorough knowledge of current H&S management theory.
