Overview

Install, service, and repair commercial and residential HVAC systems in Jacksonville, FL.

Tasks

-Use electrician's hand tools and test equipment for repairs and troubleshooting -Wrap pipes in insulation and secure them with cement or wire bands -Replace defective components including breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring -Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment -Inspect for gas leaks using gauges or soap-and-water solutions -Cut and bend tubing to proper specifications and thread pipes using machine or hand-threading equipment -Join components using sleeves, couplings, and unions with torch soldering to create complete refrigerant circuits -Adjust controls for optimal operation and ensure prescribed operating pressures -Mount compressor and condenser units using hand tools while following blueprints and engineering specifications -Test system functionality by injecting refrigerant and monitoring pressure and vacuum gauges -Install expansion valves, discharge valves, motors, compressors, and various control systems -Connect temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and power sources -Install air and water filters in completed installations

What You Bring

-Welding and metalworking experience -Experience with large capacity cooling systems (15-20 tons) -Journeyman HVAC Mechanic "Duval County" License -Knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout -Universal EPA Certification (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F) -High school diploma or equivalent education -Physical capability to perform installation and repair work in various environments -Electrical troubleshooting and repair skills -Experience with commercial and industrial HVAC systems -Valid driver's license -Familiarity with various environmental control systems and components -Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications -Additional HVAC certifications beyond minimum requirements -Minimum two years of prior experience in HVAC repair and maintenance -Ability to use hand and power tools effectively
