The Role

Overview

Conducts QA/QC inspections of mechanical systems and building components, traveling to sites

Tasks

-Delivers outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients’ needs. -Ensure adherence to ICC/ASME/ANSI/API/SMACNA or other applicable quality standards. -Protects operations by keeping company information confidential. -Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other inspectors to maintain inspection consistency and quality control. -Communicate inspection results and compliance issues to property owners, contractors, and relevant stakeholders. -Safely operate a motor vehicle with passengers. -Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., ASTM, NFPA, NEC, ICC, ASME). -Meets or exceeds performance objectives for productivity and report quality. -Review technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards for compliance. -Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV’s quality standards and strategic initiatives. -Maintain project-by-project communication with senior management and insure continued flow of information regarding any issues or potential problems which may occur during a site deployment. -Review and analyze construction plans, specifications, and maintenance records for compliance with applicable standards. -Complete inspection reports, quality documentation, and maintain inspection records. -Conduct first arrival Inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections. -Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings, including photographs and supporting documentation. -Support internal audits and customer inspections when required. -Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues. -Stand (material part of an 8-hour workday, up to 3 to 4 continuous hours at one time.) -Operate an electronic tablet in the field for live data collection. -Collect and document data using web-based programs, tablets, or other electronic tools. -Conduct on-site inspections building systems, structural integrity, and safety compliance. -Climb and balance various types of ladders to access flat roofs/hatch access (at least once for each building assessed.) -Perform non-destructive testing/inspections on mechanical components, assemblies, and materials -Identify non-conformances and initiate appropriate corrective action processes. -Stay updated on evolving building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards. -Identify deficiencies, hazards, or non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions. -Maintains safe and clean work area/spaces by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations. -Sit, Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to observe basement and grade-level crawl spaces, and/or to read equipment data plates when necessary (at least once for each building assessed.)

-May be required to work overtime with prior authorization from supervisor and/or Program Management. -Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. -To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in operating a computer, having knowledge of ADD (i.e., word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software). -Critical thinking skills -Repetitive use of hands/fingers for keyboard interaction (frequently.) -Travel and onsite work are anticipated and expected. -Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures. -Oral and written communication skills -Climb and balance stairs (at least once for each building assessed.) -Employees in this role should expect frequent travel. -Problem solving skills -Walk (material part of an 8-hour workday, up to 3 to 4 continuous hours at one time.) -Operate a computer (up to 100% of workweek.) -Lift and or move (occasionally up to 40 pounds.) -Time management skills -Welding/pressure vessel inspection knowledge preferred. -Talk and hear (communicate with onsite contact.) -Vision (close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.) -Minimum of 3 years related experience. -Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job. -Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle report (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record). -Overnight stays away from home will be required for at least a week will be required for each week deployed to an onsite. -High school diploma OR General Education Diploma (GED) required with some college preferred -Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff. -NDT knowledge or certification is a plus. -Demonstrates BV’s guiding principles in support of the company's strategic goals. -Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. -Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI), ICC Mechanical Inspector (M2) or equivalent is preferred. -Active listening skills

Benefits

-Employees who incur $2,000 or more per year in company-related travel expenses will be required to obtain a Corporate Credit Card. Employees who incur less than $2,000 per year in company-related travel expenses will be required to have sufficient personal credit to cover their business travel costs. -Onsite visits can occur for up to three continuous weeks at a time.
