Fire Protection & Life Safety Engineer

Design and commission fire protection systems for life sciences and industrial projects.

Tasks

-Navigate, teach, and apply NFPA, ICC, and FM Global codes and standards. -Conduct peer review of other firm’s designs for third-party commissioning and/or permitting. -Perform hydraulic calculations. -Visit job sites to verify existing conditions, observe construction progress, witness acceptance testing, and conduct third-party permitting inspections - approximately 5% to 10% of the time depending on current projects. -Attend project meetings and coordinate with team members of other engineering disciplines. -Review shop drawings and calculations. -Prepare and review specifications. -Track schedules and check in with project managers for assigned projects to balance several projects simultaneously.

What You Bring

-Draft and model in AutoCAD and Revit. -Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds -Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or other applicable Engineering degree. -Passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam. -Capacity to deal with frequent schedule changes, delays, and or/unexpected events. -Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and navigate construction environments -PE license is preferred but not required. Expectation is that hire will pursue PE upon obtaining necessary work experience. -Working experience in AutoCAD and/or Revit. -Excellent and professional written and verbal communication; excellent reading comprehension and as detail oriented as possible. -1 - 10 years of experience in fire alarm, sprinkler, and/or life safety design.
