The Role

Tasks

-BETA encourages and promotes employee advancement and career development -Participate in field investigations, site visits, and data collection as needed -Assist in the design and development of roadway and highway improvement projects, including alignment, profiles, cross-sections, grading, and drainage -Perform geometric design, quantity takeoffs, and assist with pavement markings, traffic control, and ADA compliance elements -Utilize AutoCAD software in the preparation of construction plans and specifications in accordance with federal, state (e.g., RIDOT), and local requirements -Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards such as AASHTO, MUTCD, and local DOT guidelines -Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including transportation planners, traffic engineers, environmental scientists, and GIS team members -Support preparation of technical reports, permit applications, and design calculations -Maintain accurate project documentation and assist with quality control reviews

What You Bring

-EIT (Fundamentals of Engineering) -Experience with RIDEM and CRMC permitting regulations -Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail -Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow) -Strong technical aptitude and an eagerness to learn -Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D -Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite -Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds -Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field -0 to 3 years of related engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction practices -Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections -Experience with MUTCD, AASHTO, RIDOT design requirements -Proficient in the use of current technology (i.e., tablets, smart phones, laptops, etc.) -Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation -Excellent verbal and written communication skills -Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time -Solid understanding of engineering theory and concepts and their application -OSHA Certifications (ie: OSHA 10-Construction)
