Ordering and maintaining stock and resources.
Presenting results to senior staff.
Keeping up-to-date with relevant scientific & technical developments.
Providing technical support.
Performing small scale fire tests.
Planning, setting up and undertaking experimental production trials.
Operating various pieces of laboratory equipment: foam rise profile kit, thermal conductivity instruments, compressive and tensile testing apparatus, video microscope, FTIR spectrometer, GC-MS, cone calorimeter, Karl-Fischer apparatus, pycnometer (closed cell apparatus) and routine laboratory equipment such as balances, ovens.
Mixing and running elementary foam formulations with laboratory chemicals.
Carrying out projects as directed by the Head of Technology (or Senior Chemist).
Recording and analysing data.
Preparing and cutting polyurethane and phenolic foam samples.

Experience of working in the Chemical industry.
A full drivers licence valid in the UK
Analytical approach to problem solving
IT literacy with particular experience of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Educated to at least A-Level / HNC in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Technology, Material Sciences or a similar subject.
