The Role

Overview

Assist plumbers with installation, repair, and maintenance of residential plumbing systems.

Tasks

-Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment. -Requisition tools and equipment select type and size of pipe and collect and transport materials and equipment to work site. -Cut or drill holes in walls or floors to accommodate the passage of pipes. -Maintain Company information in a confidential manner. -Assembly of tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, bolts, screws, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering and brazing. Install other plumbing equipment, such as sinks, tubs, toilets, water heaters, air conditioners, appliances, and trim. -Measure, cut and assemble new pipe, placing the assembled pipe in hangers or other supports. -Select all materials needed for installation, including type and size of pipe. -Assist plumbers in the layout, assembly, and installation of fixtures and materials. -Safely work from ladders for extended periods of time. -Install systems used to transport water, waste, gases, or liquids. -Test pipe systems and fix leaks. -Perform rough-ins, repair and replace fixtures and water heaters, and locate, repair, or remove leaking or broken pipes. -Excavate and grade ditches and lay and join pipe for water and sewer service. -May work with or around chemicals that require knowledge of a safety data sheet. -Coordinate with project manager on installation. -Maintain initiative to preserve the flow of work. -Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and grade. -Complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner. -Determine water supply networks and waste drainage systems. -Read blueprints and drawings to determine exact specifications and where plumbing system will be installed. -Assist in installing and maintaining plumbing systems. -Observe pressure gauges to fix leaks. -Sustain interpersonal relationships, which encourage openness, candor and trust, both internally and externally. -Assemble and install valves and fittings. -Disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe. -Attends work regularly and on time with a minimum of tardiness and absences and adheres to Company policies and procedures regarding absences and tardiness. Provides adequate notice to higher management with respect to vacation time and time-off requests.

What You Bring

-OSHA10 preferred. -Demonstrate informative and professional assistance when working with customers, vendors and team members. -Have basic knowledge of tools and plumbing materials, including knowledge of fitting sizes and types of piping. -Individuals may need to ride or drive in a vehicle for 2 or more hours at a time depending on position and job location. -Extensive knowledge of installing and maintaining all plumbing systems. -Safe working knowledge of all hand power tools. -Act independently and originate new approaches to problems. -Motivated and works well with others. -Hand tools (crimping tool, pipe wrenches, tube cutter, fitting brush) -Hacksaw and handsaw -Power tools (plumbing snake, compact threader, water pumps) -This position requires working in an outdoors environment. -Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day. Must be able to climb, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently. The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 75 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. -Gloves, goggles, hard hat, and ear plugs -High school graduation or other equivalent (i.e., GED, college, technical or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.). -Tape measure -Experience reading drawings.
