The Role

Overview

Manage NYC Parks sidewalk and tree reconstruction, supervising contractors onsite.

Tasks

-Collaborate with Parks Department and contractors. -Utilize the spec book and understand its contents. -Ensure all activities are conducted at land level, with no climbing or working on active roadways. -Meet with the Superintendent at the job site by 7 AM. -Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure adequate staffing. -Record and track measurements for pay items based on trees planted and excavation. -Receive daily site assignments from the Project Manager via email. -Ensure safety protocols are followed, including the use of PPE. -Observe and manage contractors on site.

What You Bring

-Knowledge of plant species. -Ability to work outside in all weather conditions. -Associates degree in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, or related plant science field; or construction project management and/or civil engineering with 2 years of related work experience. -3+ years of experience in a related field. -Experience working with landscapers for several years or summers. -Capability to work independently with minimal supervision. -Experience in performing daily field reporting and construction oversight tasks. -Master's degree with 6 months of experience. -Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience.
