As the Associate in the Water team, you will lead Aurecon’s network and systems planning group in Auckland, collaborating with engineers, planners, and technical specialists to deliver strategic water planning and integrated water management projects across New Zealand and Australia. Your work will shape future water infrastructure by providing innovative, resilient, and sustainable solutions for communities and industry.
You will oversee projects covering the full spectrum of water and wastewater network planning, act as the primary client liaison, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to align with client goals, regulatory requirements and best practice. Managing budgets, schedules and resources, you will mentor staff, apply digital modelling tools, explore business development opportunities, and stay informed on industry trends while solving client challenges in supply, optimisation, resilience and integrated management.
The ideal candidate holds a degree in Civil, Environmental or Natural Resources Engineering and is a Chartered Professional Engineer with 10–15 years of experience in water networks and systems planning. You should possess strong expertise in strategic and adaptive planning, hydraulic modelling, GIS software, project and budget management, and have excellent client‑facing and commercial skills, as well as knowledge of New Zealand regulations. Business development experience and a commitment to Aurecon’s values of sustainability, safety, diversity and inclusion are also valued.
