Tasks
-Where appropriate, leading a cost management team, ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilities -Process improvement – Identifying ways in which internal systems and processes can be improved and referring ideas to the appropriate line manager -Developing and maintaining a professional network of peers and potential clients -To perform the role of the Commission Manager, taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery -Estimating and cost planning to include producing and presenting the final cost plan, utilising the relevant cost management tools and services utilising The Hive -Assisting in the production of bid documentation -Margin levels are kept track of on all commissions -Producing monthly post contract cost reports via our Cost Control App and presenting them to the client -Identifying ways in which cost management procedures, templates and products can be improved and referring ideas to the appropriate line manager -Set out our NewLeaf strategy, commitment to social value and environmental issues -To ensure that client objectives are met through the delivery of an effective cost management service -Tendering and procuring, including managing the pre-qualification stage, producing the tender list, producing the preliminaries, tender analysis, producing the tender report and compiling the contractual documents, utilising the relevant cost management tools and services; The Hive; eTender Platform -Supporting the execution of our NewLeaf strategy -Assisting on feasibility studies and writing procurement reports -Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation takes place -Implementing our Embodied Carbon Calculator, a bespoke carbon accounting tool, to produce carbon footprint reports -Management of internal fees, internal job costing and resourcing requirements -Knowledge management – Ensuring that key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the Turner & Townsend internal database -They work as an effective member of the cost management team, including where appropriate, taking effective responsibility for Assistant Cost Managers -Interfacing with the client, Project Manager, and other consultants, at all project stages -Work collaboratively with Turner and Townsend’s project management team during project delivery -Developed a market leading suite of bespoke digital tools to deliver our market leading cost management services: The Hive -Utilising our full suite of bespoke digital cost management tools and services; The Hive: Benchmarking App, CostX, Market Rates App, eTender Platform, and Cost Control App -Identifying opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and reporting such opportunities to the appropriate line manager and by making effective use of the marketing database -Being involved in extracurricular activities including external groups, attending networking and CPD events -Assist in the support, development, and mentorship of junior staff members -Provide opportunities for professional development (working with industry leading professionals, RICS Chartership development support, NEC accreditation) -Negotiating and agreeing final accounts -Conducting the role of contract administrator, including dealing effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes, where applicable referring major changes to line manager -Inputting into value engineering
