Tasks

-Oversee mechanical design activities, including CAD modeling, engineering documentation, and bill of materials preparation, while ensuring alignment with customer specifications and internal standards. -Manage engineering workflows such as task planning, resource allocation, design reviews, and quality gates to optimize productivity and ensure on-time project execution. -Lead and develop a high-performing mechanical engineering team responsible for the design and development of power transformers, driving innovation and ensuring timely, high-quality deliverables. -Support global engineering strategies, including resource sharing with cost-effective regions, balancing cost efficiency with quality standards. -Promote cross-functional collaboration with sales, electrical design, procurement, manufacturing, and R&D to ensure seamless integration and project success. -Drive team growth and readiness by implementing ramp-up plans and technology training programs to prepare for evolving design requirements and innovation initiatives.

What You Bring

-Advance team capabilities through training in transformer design principles, CAD proficiency, and simulation tools for structural, seismic, and electrostatic analysis. -Familiar with the American & international standards (e.g. IEEE, ANSI, IEC) related to transformers, transformer components, and materials. -Excellent written and verbal communication in English with the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, other partners, and customers. -Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field is required with 8+ years of proven experience in medium or large Power Transformer Mechanical Design. Lead or Management experience strongly preferred. -If not already located in the Charlotte, NC area, candidate must be willing to relocate. Relocation package to be provided. -Experience of performing mechanical design of transformers for at least 5 years e.g. core clamping/leads/tank/cooling etc. -Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of effectively leading MD teams. -User of 3D CAD software (e.g. CREO/PROe/Inventor), PDM Link or Teamcenter, 2D CAD (e.g. AUTOCAD) and software tools to create a Bill of materials e.g. SAP
