Senior Engineer (Roads)

Overview

Design and manage road and highway projects, mentoring staff and delivering standards.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks

-Develop designs using AutoCAD, and Civil3D. -Provide support to Project Managers within the design team in planning, programming, technical input to the pricing of project briefs, proposals, deliverables and cost estimation. -Manage graduate engineers and technicians to deliver work packages coordinating engineering resources. -Mentor and upskill more junior staff helping them develop professionally and progress towards professional qualifications. -Be accountable for checking, certifying and authorising for issue designs, documents, approvals, and reports. -Work collaboratively with clients and key stakeholders as necessary to deliver the schemes/projects. -Deliver work packages with scope to move up to managing schemes and multi-disciplinary teams. -Prepare of designs and specifications in accordance with Design Manual Roads Bridges (DMRB).

What You Bring

-Working towards IEng or CEng status with a professional institute. Professional qualifications is advantageous. -A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent within a highway design role. -An extensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures including the application of departures from standard. -A passion for design and developing innovative solutions. -To demonstrate initiative and ingenuity in solving engineering problems. -Experience of complying with Designers Duties under CDM -Experience in delivery geometric designs using AutoDesk Civils 3D is advantageous. -Highways design experience in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB). -NEC and/or Project Management experience is advantageous.
