Overview

Operate 8‑ton excavator on groundworks sites ensuring safety & quality.

Tasks

-Perform routine greasing, cleaning, and basic maintenance to keep the machine in excellent working condition -Support the site team proactively, managing time efficiently and adapting to changing site priorities -Carry out fine grading and finishing works, including topsoil, type 1, and road formation to required tolerances -Excavate strip foundations, drainage runs, and service trenches accurately to level and line -Work confidently with trench boxes, drag boxes, manhole boxes, and trench sheets, ensuring lifting operations are carried out safely -Conduct daily pre-start checks, maintain accurate inspection records, and report any faults or maintenance needs promptly -Read and interpret drawings, site plans, and levels, working closely with engineers and foremen -Operate a 8-tonne excavator safely and efficiently in line with company and site procedures -Always obtain and comply with dig permits before breaking ground

-Strong safety culture and ongoing training support -Additional CPCS/NPORS tickets - Telehandler, Dumper, Roller, or similar -Please note that to comply with client requirements, we can only accept NPORS cards affiliated with CSCS and carrying the CSCS hologram. We no longer accept traditional NPORS cards. If you would like further details on how to transfer your card from the traditional scheme to the CSCS scheme, please click How to achieve an NPORS CSCS Operator Card - NPORS -SSSTS or willingness to work towards it -CPCS or NPORS Excavator 360 (below 10T) with Lifting Ops -Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious at all times -Experience with GPS or machine control systems (Trimble, Leica, or similar) is highly advantageous -Strong teamwork skills - able to work effectively with gangs, trades, and site management -Right to work in the UK -Work safely around live services, demonstrating strong knowledge of service avoidance procedures -5+ years’ experience in groundworks or civil engineering environments
