The Role

Overview

Inspect and ensure quality of metal fabricated parts using measuring tools.

Tasks

-Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and identify and address issues with equipment that may need repair -Generate and summarize non-conforming reports for discrepant products -Read and interpret blueprints -Identify and quarantine all non-conforming product -Attend department meetings as required -Inspect and approve incoming materials where and when needed by confirming they meet specifications -Inspect and or test in-process product as well as finished product -Use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, steel rulers, pin gages, surface plate, and height gage -Document inspection results by completing required reports/logs -Visual inspection of product according to customer requirements

What You Bring

-1 or more years working in a metal fabrication environment under a continuous improvement QMS with hands on inspection preferred -Associate degree in related field preferred -Understand industry safety standards and quality expectations -High school diploma -Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs? -Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence -Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees -Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, e-mail software and the use of the internet -Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
