Accounting Assistant

Overview

Support accounting functions, including entries, reconciliations, AP/AR, reporting.

Tasks

-Perform regular bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly. -Track departmental expenses and flag potential overruns or savings opportunities. -Tackle ad-hoc initiatives, from system migrations to process improvements. -Build supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes. -Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. -Manage accounts payable/receivable workflows, including invoice processing and vendor/client follow-ups -Review timecards, process payroll adjustments, and reconcile payroll accounts. -Organize and archive accounting documents for easy retrieval. -Post journal entries, update the general ledger, and ensure all records are current and accurate. -Provide backup support across the accounting team as needed. -Respond to auditor inquiries and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards. -Accurately input financial data into accounting systems (QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, etc.). -Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and management reports. -Gather tax documents and support sales tax, income tax, and compliance filings. -Compile documentation and prepare audit schedules during internal/external reviews. -Verify transactions against internal records to maintain cash integrity.
