Tasks

-Lead the design of roundabouts, intersections and roadways for various transportation projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national standards (such as WisDOT, AASHTO and MUTCD) -Ensure division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service -Review plans, technical specifications, contract documents and estimates -Manage all phases of roadway design and roundabout projects, including planning and design. -Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and project teams, offering guidance and mentorship in roundabout design and engineering practices. -Perform field reviews and other assessments for use in design -Produce high quality work and implement and maintain QA/QC procedure -Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other engineers to ensure timely completion of projects within budget. -Prepare, maintain, and coordinate schedules of multiple concurrent projects -Represent clients and Westwood in meetings with governmental agencies -Coordinate with other disciplines, support services and subconsultants -Oversee the technical aspects of various projects -Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery -Coordinate with clients, public agencies, and stakeholders to ensure that designs meet their needs and regulatory requirements. -Prepare technical specifications and cost estimates -Participate in contract bidding, provide limited observation during construction, review submittals and RFIs -Prepare detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D

What You Bring

-Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet project deadlines -Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment -Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in WI (or capable of obtaining within 6 months) -Ability to work independently and as part of a team -In-depth knowledge of roundabout design principles, capacity analysis and traffic management strategies -Excellent communication, coordination and leadership skills -Detail-oriented but also flexible enough to be big picture/conceptual -Ability to delegate assignments and determine methods and procedures -8+ years of progressive experience in roadway design -Able to proactively pursue design solutions -BS in Civil Engineering -Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D and Microsoft Office applications -Wisconsin DOT Level 1 or higher Qualified Roundabout Designer certificate -Skilled in the use of local and national design standards (WisDOT, MUTCD, AASHTO, etc.) -Ability to develop relationships with peers, clients, and public agencies
