Tasks

-Supporting risk mitigation activities by working closely with safety teams to ensure risks are controlled SFAIRP -Tracking and managing the lifecycle of waivers, ensuring validity, compliance, and periodic review -Managing waiver and type approval processes, ensuring alignment with safety assurance standards such as EN 50126/50129, ISO 45001, and local regulations -Conducting audits and reviews to ensure documentation is up to date and accessible -Overseeing EMSF coverage across all phases of the project lifecycle -Collaborating with engineering, maintenance, asset management, and operations teams to align waiver and type approval requirements -Leading applications for type approval, ensuring documentation and evidence meet regulatory requirements -Preparing periodic reports and dashboards on waiver and type approval activities, highlighting trends, risks, and compliance performance -Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of organisational standards, policies, and processes -Monitoring active approvals to ensure timely renewals or updates -Developing and maintaining the EMSF and associated standards, procedures, manuals, and templates -Maintaining comprehensive documentation, including waiver requests, type approval submissions, risk assessments, and regulator correspondence

What You Bring

-Hands-on experience managing waivers, type approvals, or similar regulatory compliance processes -Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering, operations, or safety assurance, ideally in rail, infrastructure, or O&M sectors -A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline is preferred but not essential. -Experience managing documentation across the full project lifecycle -Solid understanding of technical standards, safety assurance, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., EN 50126/50129, Rail Safety National Law, ISO 9001) -Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, clients, regulators, and internal teams -Confidence interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and safety assurance documents -A collaborative and pragmatic approach, with strong attention to detail and a focus on compliance and safety -Familiarity with asset management, maintenance practices, and operational requirements in O&M environments
