The Role

Overview

Conduct visual site inspections to verify structural compliance with codes/specs.

Tasks

-Can function as an International Building Code defined Special Inspector on projects designed by the company or designed by other companies; -Detailed written reports of all observations, any project discrepancies, and documenting collaboration with the Structural Engineer of Record (SEoR) to provide direction for remedial action of discrepancies noted during the field observations; -Performs field observations and inspections of structural elements of buildings and other structures; -Manage and control own schedule to ensure timely services are provided on all assigned projects; -Perform shop drawing reviews, inclusive of providing mark ups to the SEoR for review and approval; -Job site visits and photographs of relevant conditions in the field to use as documentation for reports; -Produce well written and organized report; -Assist with answering requests for information (RFIs), interpretation of test results, or contractor change orders, etc. -Interpretation or evaluation of field conditions and laboratory reports; -Assist project design teams as required by projects;

What You Bring

-Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; -Ability to read and understand construction documents including drawings, specifications, and shop drawings; -Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays. -Associates degree, or certificate, in Engineering, or equivalent, preferred; -Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; -Possession of, or desire to obtain a recognized certification related to Structural Inspection (i.e. ICC General Requirements, ICC Reinforced Concrete, ICC Structural Masonry, ICC Structural Steel and Bolting, ICC Structural Welding, ICC Master of Special Inspections, and/or AWS-Certified Weld Inspector) preferred; -Attention to detail and problem-solving skills; -No experience required, 1 years of experience preferred; prior experience in structural inspection or the building design consulting industry preferred; -Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook; -This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
