The Role
Overview
Inspect and test metal fabricated parts, ensure quality, document results, and support production.

Tasks
-Provide direct support to the production floor by assisting with interpretation and development of manufacturing related documentation and providing proper measuring techniques -Use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, steel rulers, pin gages, surface plate, and height gage -Identify and quarantine all non-conforming product -Create internal Control Plans in accordance with customer and Advanced Laser requirements -Inspect and or test in-process product as well as finished product -Learn and assist with dimensional verification of PPAP and 1st article parts -Operate FARO & Micro-Vu measurement equipment -Train, identify, and implement lean process and project improvements -Document inspection results by completing required reports/logs -Lead and train Level I inspectors as needed to increase performance -Assist with calibration procedures and provide calibration of measuring equipment as outlined by site procedures and ISO Standard -Inspect and release products for shipping by ensuring proper documentation or certifications are provided as outlined by customer requirements. (Visual & Dimensional verification may be required) -Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and identify and address issues with equipment that may need repair -Generate and summarize non-conforming reports for discrepant product -Attend department meetings as required -Visual inspection of product according to customer requirements -Read and interpret blueprints -Inspect and approve incoming materials where and when needed by confirming they meet specifications

What You Bring
-Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, e-mail software and the use of the internet -Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees -Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. -3 or more years working in a metal fabrication environment under a continuous improvement QMS with hands on inspection preferred -Associate degree in related field preferred -Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals -Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence -High school diploma -Understand industry safety standards and quality expectations
