Tasks

-Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules. -Ensure accurate and timely processing of orders, including tracking shipment status and resolving any issues that may arise. -Continuously monitor market trends and industry developments to identify new potential suppliers and product offerings. -Draft and review contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. -Work with vendors to generate material requirements and provide quotes with lead times. -Collaborate with legal and finance departments to resolve contractual issues and disputes as needed. -Identify potential suppliers through market research, referrals, and networking. -Coordinate with internal departments to confirm specifications, quantities, and delivery requirements. -Generate purchase orders based on inventory levels, production schedules, and demand forecasts. -While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and reach, stoop kneel. -Address supplier concerns and issues promptly to ensure ongoing satisfaction and partnership. -At the completion of a project, determine the quantity and types of materials needed for potential field service. -Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. -Develop material stocking schedule based on production run schedule. -Complete disposition process for materials in timely fashion. -Evaluate suppliers based on factors such as price, quality, reliability, and delivery speed. -Determine project specific materials not readily used on future projects for return to vendor or disposition. -Analyze project blueprints to generate material requirements and quantity. -Conduct regular performance reviews with suppliers to assess quality, reliability, and service levels.

What You Bring

Guerdon LLC is seeking an experienced Buyer with expertise in lumber including engineered lumber. This role will be in charge of powering our operations by securing the goods and services we need, exactly when we need them. This position will allow you to dive into supplier research, negotiation contracts and build strong strategic relationships to deliver top value while maintaining Guerdon quality. Note: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. -Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail. -Ability to work on-site during regular business hours of 8-5 M-F -Three (3) years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment. -Must have reliable transportation and stellar attendance with the ability to work overtime when required to meet project deadlines. -Learning agility to master new software -Moderate noise (i.e., business offices with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels. -Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable terms and conditions. -Ability to work in shared space. -Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. -Knowledge and experience in purchasing lumber and engineered lumber items. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with procurement software or ERP systems. -Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field or the combination of education and experience to perform the duties of the position. -Light to moderately lifting is required.
