The Role

Overview

Perform MEP commissioning, testing, and energy efficiency analysis for high‑performance buildings.

Tasks

-Inspect or monitor energy systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) to determine energy use or potential energy savings. -Carry out Functional Tests (FT) of MEP equipment on site to verify the proper installation of new or relocated HVAC equipment per green building practices. -Prepare energy-related project reports or related documentation. -Collect data for energy conservation analyses, using jobsite observation, field inspections, or submetering. -Perform measurement, verification, commissioning, and retro-commissioning. -Prepare documents like Current Facility Requirement (CFR) and Operation and Maintenance (O&M) plans, Systems Manuals, Ongoing Commissioning (Cx) plans, Cx summary reports etc. Post FT. -Prepare and develop Pre-Functional and Functional Testing forms in compliance with green building practices. -Carry out periodic visits to site for observation and acceptance of Pre-Functional tests. -Review of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) design documents like drawings, Specifications (Specs), The Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), and Bases of Design (BOD) to evaluate energy efficiency. -Perform reviewed Post- Occupancy reviews.

What You Bring

-Minimum requires bachelor’s degree major in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or foreign degree equivalent, plus 2 years of training in Mechanical System, building design and construction. -7 years of experience in the building industry or environmental sciences. -5 years of familiarity with Commissioning Process as defined by ASHRAE Std 202-2018 and Guideline 0-2019. -Experience in equipment startup, Test & Balance, and Functional Testing. -Strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills. -Extensive knowledge of high-performance building technologies and strategies related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems. -Licensed PE, CxA, LEED AP Green Associate or LEED AP specialty credential (preferred). -Experience reviewing and analyzing complex design and construction documents. -Ability and initiative to manage own schedule. -Experience in MEP/renewable energy design, evaluation, construction, building operations, testing and/or verification (preferred). -High technical ability including experience with Commissioning computer software, Bluebeam, Procore, Building Management Systems, and Microsoft Office. Ability using infrared thermometer and light meter.
