The Role

Overview

Maintain and enhance Auckland Botanic Gardens' outdoor spaces and assets.

Tasks

-Maintain the track network across the gardens. -Apply agricultural chemicals safely and effectively as required. -Maintain lawns using equipment such as Toro and Walker mowers. -Help create a safe, welcoming, and inspiring space for all visitors -Undertake pest control activities including possum trapping and rat bait station management. -Focus on maintaining and enhancing the Auckland Botanic Gardens’ outdoor spaces -Operate and maintain tools and machinery for mowing, edging, litter control, and general grounds upkeep. -Carry out maintenance programmes for green space assets including paths, edging, seating, retaining walls, fencing, and graffiti removal.

What You Bring

-Use transferable skills from industries like construction, farming, or property maintenance -Basic computer skills and familiarity with field data collection apps -A full and valid New Zealand Driver’s Licence -A minimum of 3–5 years of practical experience in hard landscaping, green asset maintenance, or related fields such as construction, property development, or farming -Experience in open space mowing; tractor operation is preferred -Growsafe certification is desirable (training can be provided if needed)
