Tasks

You’ll play a pivotal role in leading bids, tenders, and cost management for major public and private sector EV charging projects, ensuring commercial integrity from pricing through delivery. -Review and negotiate subcontractor quotations to ensure alignment with project and commercial requirements. -Lead the preparation of pricing tenders, cost estimates, and commercial submissions. -Influence high-value projects that contribute to net-zero transport goals. -Oversee financial evaluation and cost control for EV charging installation projects. -Collaborate with sales and delivery teams to validate project scope, costs, and profitability. -Provide ongoing commercial oversight during project delivery, including valuations, variations, and final accounts. -Take ownership of direct award and smaller framework bids, ensuring high-quality submissions. -Support senior leadership with bid strategy, risk management, and contract negotiation. -Lead the commercial function for a major player in the UK’s EV charging infrastructure space.

What You Bring

We are seeking an experienced Head of Commercial (Contractor) to support the commercial, estimating, and bid management functions of a leading EV charging infrastructure contractor. This is a hands-on role requiring a commercially astute professional who can operate independently, drive value, and ensure contractual and financial compliance across multiple workstreams. -Understanding of EV charging installations (AC/DC) and related cost structures is highly advantageous. -Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar discipline. -Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or Commercial/Bid Manager within a contracting environment (infrastructure, energy, or telecoms). -Strong knowledge of tendering processes, cost estimation, and financial management. -Familiarity with NEC (or similar) contract frameworks. -Excellent stakeholder management and commercial negotiation skills. -Demonstrable experience with local authority and private sector contracts. -Long-term contracting potential with a strong pipeline of upcoming tenders and projects. -Self-sufficient, detail-oriented, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced contracting environment. -Strong numerical and analytical ability with a focus on accuracy and cost efficiency.

Salary: Competitive Day Rate (DOE) Location: London (Hybrid – 3 days per week in office) -Hybrid: 3 days per week in the London office, remainder remote.
