The Role

Overview

Load, unload, process and store hazardous/nonhazardous waste, operate equipment, ensure safety.

Tasks

-Utilizes Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers -Utilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities -Operates a fork truck and Bobcat with attachments -Perform chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues -Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage -Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices -Operates a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials -Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed -Maintains operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition -Utilizes proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks -Uses Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites -Loads, unloads and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local rules and regulations -Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator -Reviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials

What You Bring

-Utilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA and permit regulations -High-school diploma or equivalent (required) -Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner -Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed, including a respirator -Ability to lift up to 60lbs -Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts -Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role -1+ years of related experience (required) -Working knowledge of EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations and general industry practices -40 hour HAZWOPER certificate (preferred)
