Overview

Lead forensic investigations of building failures and manage client relationships in NYC.

Tasks

-Prepare detailed technical reports outlining findings and conclusions for clients. -May be required to work in environments necessitating the use of respirators and other PPE; compliance with safety regulations and participation in fit testing and training will be required. -Conduct forensic investigations of residential and commercial properties to determine the cause and extent of structural failures, water intrusion, roof damage, construction defects, and building system issues. -Investigate product defects and premises liability cases (preferred but not required). -Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and internal teams regarding project status. -Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely execution and quality outcomes. -Perform field inspections, including roofs, crawlspaces, and walking surfaces. -Research engineering and architectural literature to support evaluations and apply relevant codes and standards. -Assess damage resulting from natural disasters such as storms, hurricanes, and floods.

A multidisciplinary consulting firm is seeking an experienced Engineer or Architect to join its forensic consulting team in New York City. This senior-level position involves leading technical investigations and managing client relationships, particularly within the insurance and legal sectors. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, project leadership, and client service excellence. -Experience working with insurance companies and legal professionals is highly desirable. -Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Registered Architect (R.A.) license preferred. -Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in field inspections. -E.I.T. certification required. -Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Demonstrated ability to manage projects and supervise teams. -Must be willing to travel locally for site inspections; use of personal vehicle may be required. -Prior deposition or expert witness testimony experience is a plus. -Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field (Master's degree preferred). -Minimum of 8 years of professional experience, including at least 1 year in forensic investigations.
