The Role
Overview
Design, develop, test and maintain moulds/tooling for manufacturing, ensuring efficiency and quality.

Tasks
-Work closely with the quality team to address defects or non-conformances -Support engineering to develop standard procedures and best practices relating to mould design and tooling introductions -Prepare technical documentation including mould drawings, specifications, and maintenance reports. -Work with suppliers, toolmakers, and external vendors on mould fabrication and repairs including tooling tender packs -Manage Key Supplier Relationships -Contribute to training plans for production and maintenance teams on proper mould handling care -Liaise with international toolmakers—particularly in China—to review, challenge, and refine tool designs for quality, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability -Shop floor presence during IQ/OQ/PQ to provide SME advice to optimisation yield/weight/cycle time -Select appropriate materials and manufacturing methods for mould construction -Ensure all moulds meet company and industry quality standards -Provide SME advice on PPM activities and assist to resolve mould-related issues/breakdowns such as wear, flashing, leakage, or dimensional deviations -A cross-functional team is responsible for the delivery of NPI - this role will be accountable for the tooling aspects of NPI will require project management activities to control the tooling delivery -Oversee the design of new moulds (in partnership with supplier) or modify existing moulds based on product requirements and specifications -Introduce new techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and extend mould life -Ensures accountability -Collaborate with product design and manufacturing teams as SME (Subject matter expert) in tool design -Contribution towards the DIOPQ (Design, Installation, Operational and Performance Qualification) of tooling Verification of tool design pre-shipment. This role is responsible for design qualification and will be a key contributor to the remaining qualification gates -Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment

What You Bring
-3+ years’ experience in one or more of low pressure / high pressure injection moulding / compression moulding -Proven experience with thermoplastic / thermosetting tool moulding processes -Nimble learning -Action orientated -Tooling Introduction Project Management (NPI, Replacement & Optimisation) -Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, material engineering or related field -Strong knowledge of CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and use of PDM. Mould flow simulation is desirable -Communicates effectively -Desirable to have experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methods preferred -Problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues -This role requires a high level of team ethos to work with procurement, suppliers, design engineering & operations -Understanding of materials science, machining processes, and mould manufacturing methods with a focus on industry best practices for injection moulding and compression moulding
