The Role

Overview

Design and engineer electrical systems for labs/facilities, manage BIM, and lead project teams.

Tasks

-Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work. -Provide conceptual / detailed design and analysis for facility power distribution (600V), site power distribution (15kV), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm / mass notification, security, access control, and special systems. -Design of electrical systems for facilities / laboratories for Government, University, and private clients. -Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality. -Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring the work of junior engineers and designers, and delegating work as required as well as provide management of the local team. -Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications. -Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.

What You Bring

-Client requirements for this position require Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident status. -Ability to write and edit specifications -Capable of performing all of the above with minimal direction -Ability to travel as needed. -Ability to consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks as previously defined -Minimum four (4) years of experience using REVIT/AutoCAD or other design software-based drawing generation -Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; both verbally and in writing -Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, and EasyPower. -Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word -Experience with technical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE is required -Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment -Local candidates are preferred. -Eight (8) years of experience in facility Electrical Engineering design -Experience with USDA, ARS, CDC and other laboratory clients is highly desired -This individual is expected to possess extensive knowledge on electrical regulatory codes. -Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail -Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
