Tasks

-Coordinating with engineers and technical staff to ensure that the projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner -Perform quality reviews for transmission projects, including using design-specific tools such as PLS-CADD PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE -independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based on PLS-CADD. -Preparing plans, specifications, and design packages for transmission line projects -In addition, he/she will report directly to a Project Engineer or Project Manager and will have primarily transmission line project planning, analysis, and design responsibilities. -Approving and Stamping designs and drawings and serving as EOR (Engineer of Record) -Certify that company design practices are followed as they relate to their Practice/Discipline deliverables, and they act as a focal point for the company Project Practice/Discipline Team Members. -Perform detailed studies, review plans, transmission line modelling, and design tasks associated with utilities or other types of projects, under the supervision of a project manager. -weekly or bi-weekly project updates and project forecasting. -and/or support PM by meeting with clients. -Support the project manager and group proposal manager to prepare proposal man-hour estimates and technical scopes to support the sales effort. -Provide guidance and instruction to the transmission engineering department, mentoring, and guiding less experienced engineers -Coordinating with suppliers, clients, and the rest of the design disciplines -Writing and editing technical reports and engineering studies. -design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements. -Schedule and coordinate peer reviews of said tasks including, third-party Practice/Discipline quality reviews of deliverables. -Plan, analyze, and design a variety of transmission line projects primarily with the utilities and other types of projects with multiple stakeholders. -as Engineer of Record in preparing specifications and project design criteria. Provide construction support for high voltage transmission line project. -Lead meetings with clients, other stakeholders, and contractors to review project needs and coordinate field conditions. -Support construction projects with field site visits and construction observation duties, responding to RFIs -Producing technical presentations and design drawings

West Power Energy is looking for a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice in Calgary, AB, Canada. This is a hybrid position, working some days in the office and working some days from home. The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design. We are looking for a seller-doer with the ability to develop client relationships. -strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients, and external agencies -Trong analytical and problem-solving skills -Advanced working knowledge of PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER -as Engineer of Record in preparing construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation and assembly drawings -Advanced Knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems/software to execute production -degree in civil or electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program -Advanced Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook) -Minimum 7 years in transmission line design and field transmission construction experience -Advanced Working knowledge of GO95, NESC, and Wildfire Mitigation is a plus -Strong written and verbal English communication skils -be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in a team environment and in a variety of situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude -with industry codes and standards and have experience as the technical lead on projects. -Solid understanding of transmission line project scope & deliverables. Having the ability to identify scope creep and provide immediate input and coordinate with the Project Engineer or Project Manager to remedy the situation. -English knowledge of all three competencies of Speaking, Reading, and writing. -of transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 500kV. -for a seller-doer with the ability to develop client relationships.
