Lead and execute comprehensive power system studies and design for HV/EV projects.

Tasks

-Apply IEC/IEEE/ANSI standards across studies and deliverables -Interpret and ensure compliance with relevant grid codes (e.g., ENTSO‑E frameworks, UK NGESO, Energinet, EirGrid, etc.) and client specifications -Studies for platform and onshore substations (AIS/GIS), array and export systems, energization plans, dynamic cable considerations -Power quality assessments for industrial, data centers, renewables, and transport sectors -Collaborate closely with primary/secondary engineering, protection & control, FAT/SAT, and commissioning teams -Support proposals/tendering with scopes, methods, estimates, and risk / assumption logs; lead client technical clarifications -Prepare design basis reports, study plans, assumptions registers, calculation notes, and clear recommendation reports -Plan and deliver to quality, schedule, and budget; maintain compliant records per internal QA processes -Works with other Engineers in the project team of Ramboll Energy Chennai. -Lead and execute power system studies: -Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and design reviews for multi-disciplinary teams -Develop and validate system models and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) from client/network data; maintain version-controlled models and data QA/QC

What You Bring

-EMT studies in PSCAD/EMT-type tools for HVDC (VSC/CSC), STATCOM/SVC, converter interactions, energization/switching transients, inrush, resonance -Reliability/availability (RA/RAM) assessments; black-start/islanding/resynchronization where applicable -Motor starting (static/dynamic), flicker and unbalance analysis (IEC/IEEE) -Should be able to build and maintain good relationships with clients and colleagues -Proven track record leading complex study packages and achieving grid-code-compliant designs -Short-circuit (IEC 60909/ANSI), equipment duty assessment, N-1/N-2 contingency -Software and Tool Competency (expert proficiency expected) -Dynamic and transient stability (RMS), low/high voltage ride-through, frequency stability -DIgSILENT PowerFactory: Load Flow, Short-Circuit, RMS Dynamics, EMT, Protection & Coordination, Harmonics; DSL modeling; Python automation -CDEGS/SES or equivalent for grounding/earthing studies -Experience across sectors such as renewables (onshore/offshore wind, solar, BESS), industrial, utilities, data centers, and transportation -PSS®E and/or PowerWorld/CYME for transmission/planning studies -Excellent client engagement, technical writing, and presentation skills; comfortable leading technical discussions -Insulation coordination and lightning protection (IEC 60071/IEC 62305) -Completed at least one offshore wind substation project including HV side and GIS panels -Engineering skills with analytical approach -Protection coordination and relay settings (OC, EF, Distance, Differential, Busbar, Transformer, Motor/Generator) -Standards and Codes (strong working knowledge) -ETAP: Load Flow, Short Circuit (IEC/ANSI), Star Protection/Coordination, Arc Flash, Harmonic Analysis, Motor Starting, Transient Stability, Reliability Assessment, DC Systems/UPS/Battery sizing -SKM PowerTools: DAPPER, CAPTOR, TMS, Arc Flash -Harmonic and interharmonic studies (IEC 61000/IEEE 519), impedance scans, MV/LV harmonic filter design (passive/active) -Cable ampacity/thermal rating (IEC 60287/IEEE 399) and cable energization sequencing -Experience of at least 6 years in a consultancy organisation - must -Earthing/bonding strategies for offshore platforms, sheath bonding and induced voltages, overvoltage control, filter/VAR planning -Work as a team member with good interpersonal skills -MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python for custom analyses, scripting, and report automation; version control (e.g., Git) -Professional registration (e.g., CEng, PE) preferred -ETAP & DigSILENT are must have requirements. Other software are preferred. -PSCAD/EMTDC or EMTP‑RV: EMT studies for HVDC/FACTS, switching/energization transients, converter interactions, SSR/SSI screening -Works with HV Engineering counterparts in other Ramboll Energy regions -Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering; Master’s/PhD preferred -Structured working style with result-oriented approach -Arc flash assessments (IEEE 1584/CSA Z462) and mitigation recommendations -Capacitor/reactor sizing, VAR/Power Factor correction, LV/MV capacitor bank protection & control -8–15+ years of hands-on power system studies experience, including HV substation (onshore/offshore) and LV/MV systems. -Excellent in English skills oral and written is very important and a requirement -Strong protection engineering background: relay settings/calculations, coordination, and validation in the field/FAT/SAT
