The Role

Overview

Mid-level hydrogeologist handling field work, data analysis, reports, and permits

Tasks

-Collaborate with other hydrogeologists and team members from other disciplines across Canada. -Review design drawings and estimate dewatering zone of influence and water taking volumes/rates. -Process and interpret groundwater monitoring and sampling, and hydraulic conductivity testing data and results. -Coordinate resources and arrange equipment and supplies, laboratory services and subcontractors. -Plan, coordinate, and provide support for field work programs including drilling, groundwater monitoring and sampling, hydraulic conductivity testing, level logger deployment and data downloading, and private well survey and potable water sampling. -Support senior staff in preparing proposals and developing work plans and budgets. -Ensure implementation and continued use of corporate policies, procedures and systems, including health and safety, quality management, and ethics and compliance. -Prepare technical reports including factual data reports, baseline reports and assessment reports. -Prepare field work packages including health and safety plans, work plans and traffic controls. -Conduct environmental impact assessment related to construction dewatering and groundwater resources. -Prepare or support applications for water taking permits including Permit to Take Water (PTTW) and Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR) and permits to discharge.

What You Bring

-Strong communication skills in English, with French being an asset. -Experience in preparing proposals, work plans, coordination and technical reports. -Ability to work well in a team environment, including working with colleagues from other disciplines and in different geographic regions. -Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in hydrogeology, geology, earth sciences, geological engineering, or environmental engineering with 5+ years of relevant work experience in hydrogeology. -Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, well organized and detail oriented. -Familiar with regulatory framework related to water resources, contaminated sites and environmental assessment in Ontario and Canada. -Be able to and willing to travel for work away from the home office when required. Travel would generally be for site visits, or as a backup for field staff (expected to be limited). -Registered or be eligible to register as a Professional Geoscientist of Ontario (P.Geo.) and/or Professional Engineer of Ontario (P.Eng.).
