Assist with construction surveying tasks and equipment maintenance on a Louisiana project.

Tasks

-Ensure security of equipment and work area while conducting operations. -Remove obstructions during construction layout activities. -Prepare surveying equipment for use. -Identify, communicate, and escalate problems and issues to supervisor for immediate resolution. -Move and adjust position of survey equipment. -Measure distance between points using measuring tape or electronic equipment. -Inventory supplies and give supply orders to Survey Party Chief for re-stocking. -Hold measuring devices during construction layout activities. -Establish points by installing physical markers. -Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees. -Assist with construction surveying activities under direction of Survey Party Chief. -Maintain and clean surveying equipment including tracking of calibrations. -Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans, follow safety expectations for operation of equipment and tools, select appropriate equipment for performing work, adhere to safety protocols to perform work, and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).

-Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills and engage with all levels of teams, clients, business partners, and management -Ability to take direction, work independently with minimal supervision, and in team environment -Fully understand work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers and prepare and inspect tools prior use to ensure safe and working condition. -Knowledge of and able to apply arithmetic , basic geometry , and trigonometry to work tasks -Ability to travel using various modes (e.g., automobile, train, air) and accommodate night and weekend work -Able to think critically and use g ood judgment to solve proble ms -Reliable transportation required -Ability to measure , read, and convey lengths with ruler or tape with high degree of accuracy -Ability to apply active listening skills, ask clarifying questions, and complete assignments as directed -Familiar with CAD (Computer Aided Design) preferred -Moderate computer skills (e.g., smart phone, iPad) -Minimum of 6 months of construction surveying and building layout experience required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience -Possess basic knowledge and use of surveying equipment (e.g., builder’s level, lasers, laser levels, total stations, and robotic total stations) to complete work assignments -Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
