Tasks

-Assist on large multi-disciplinary design teams and lead younger staff on a variety of project tasks -Design, direct, and/or manage rail-related components of passenger rail, freight rail and commuter rail projects -Actively grow relationships with clients, consultant partners, and industry processionals. -Develop and oversee the design of track alignments, including special track work such as turnouts, crossovers and diamond crossings -Assist in developing rail portion of large multi-discipline project pursuits -Perform track inspections and other site inspections during construction and maintenance projects to determine compliance with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), AREMA, and other applicable regulations -Execute engineering investigations including feasibility and type studies with cost and risk analysis -Play an integral part in the development and review of plans, specifications and cost estimates for Rail Design projects -Coordinate with multiple disciplines for conformance to design criteria, standards and code requirements -Prepare and/or direct detailed engineering plans using industry standard software products -Actively participate in business development opportunities both locally and nationally.

What You Bring

-Previously demonstrated project experience with Class I Railroad design is a plus -Excellent verbal, interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability -Strong work ethic, integrity -Experience reviewing construction plans and specifications -8-10+ years of demonstrated experience on various types of rail projects -Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or transportation engineering or mechanical engineering or a related field of study. -It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment. An employer who violates this law shall be subject to criminal penalties and civil liability. -Previously demonstrated project experience with Commuter/Transit Agencies is a plus -Thorough knowledge of and practical experience applying AREMA -Proven experience in working on multiple projects concurrently, managing project deadlines and on-time submittals -PE license required; registered with NCEES a plus -Availability to occasionally travel to other local offices and job site locations -Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team -Possess excellent client management skills and ability to enhance and develop solid client relationships
