The Role

Overview

Oversee QA/QC team, ensure inspection compliance, resolve quality issues, and support project success.

Tasks

-Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities. -Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records. -Provide project quality expectations to new inspectors. -Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management. -Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities. -Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes. -Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component. -Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear -Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities. -Reviews all purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor. -Attend weekly project update meetings with the project group including upcoming activities, status and deadlines. -Engage with the General Contractor’s Quality Assurance Manager for inspection planning, project compliance, non-conformance management, quality audits. -Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures. -Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.

What You Bring

-Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds -Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; with 10 years of overall experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. -Excellent time management and written and spoken communication skills, highly professional, organized, and trustworthy team player. -Current certification in accordance with AWS QC-1 as a Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), and /or ICC Mechanical – Commercial Certification preferred -Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. -Occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl -At least 3 years of experience leading and managing direct reports. -Problem-Solver: Ability to identify, analyze, and solve a problem in support of personal, group, department, or organizational objectives. -Teamwork: The ability to effectively work toward common goals with others by supporting, encouraging, and sharing information in an authentic and approachable manner. -Seeking at least 8 years of experience in Quality Control focused on ASME B31 piping codes, industrial and commercial construction, fabrication, welding, non-destructive testing, and/or other similar fields. -Ability to read, write, and problem solve, make quick decisions, interpret data and analyze results; effective written and verbal communication is essential. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. -Proactivity / Initiative: Recognizes what needs to be done and accomplishes it in a manner appropriate for one’s level/position and with minimal supervision. -Regular & routine attendance. -Frequently required to reach with hands and arms -Proficient understanding of ASME Section IX BP&V Code and experience creating and reviewing welding procedures and welder or brazer qualifications. -Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards. -Insight: The ability to gather and make sense of information that suggests new possibilities. -Engagement: Shows a knack for using emotion and logic to communicate a persuasive vision and connect with people. -Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus -Big Picture: Understands and contributes to organizations’ short- and long-term business strategy.
